Welcome to Pictou County! Our tour group will be departing at 10:30 AM from the Museum of Industry Lobby following breakfast and the welcome greetings.

Our tour will take you to Pictou’s award winning waterfront, where the first Scots landed in 1773. We then divide into 3 groups.

Group A

Group "A" will journey to the nearby Braeside Country Inn to enjoy a fun and relaxing "Primp & Play" pampered by staff from Laura’s Day Spa, to include skin care, make-up tips & nail care just to name a few. Enjoy complimentary refreshments before lunch.

Group B

Group "B" will visit the Hector Heritage Quay & uncover the lives of the early immigrants through demonstration & displays, tour the amazing full-sized replica of the tall Ship Hector and stop by the Hector Quay Store. Enjoy the nearby Northumberland Fisheries Museum and Hatchery, where you can see the tiny infant lobsters who are born and cared for onsite until they are released into the Northumberland Strait. Stop by Carver’s Coffee house, Pub & Studio and see local craftsman, Keith Matheson at work on his latest wood carving.

Pictou offers a great walking & shopping experience. Enjoy an ice cream on the waterfront or sav our a cup of tea and oat cakes at Mrs. MacGregor’s tea room. Only a short walk away you will find Grohman Knives, the home of world renowned handcrafted masterpieces which have been displayed in New York’s Museum of Modern Art & commissioned by the Queen. As you stroll up the street stop by Water Street Studio offering local & imported handmade crafts, Heaven’s Delight Fudge shop, Whigmalfeeries Scottish tartans & giftware shop and Caspers gifts & crafts where unique and beautiful gifts are found.

At 12:30 PM Group "B" will join Group "A" at the Braeside Country Inn for a wonderful lunch. Following lunch it will be Group "B's" turn to be pampered while Group "A" will enjoy Pictou’s attractions, waterfront & shopping experience.

Group C

Group "C" will embark on an entirely different course, cruising the Pictou Harbor & East River enjoying local on board entertainment & storytelling with John "Spyder" Mac Donald and of course with refreshments available to steady the nerves for such a high seas adventure. Sorry, but there is a limit of 20 people. The cruise will include Pictou Harbor, moor alongside a lobster fishing boat to observe how these delicacies are brought up from the deep ocean, then up the East River to New Glasgow where lunch will be served at The Dock “A Little Bit of Ireland” to enjoy fine food, spirits & ales. After lunch the cruise will travel back to Pictou.

All attendees will then depart Pictou at 2:45 PM arriving back at the Holiday Inn by 3:15 PM.
Please dress casual with comfortable shoes. Approximate time for program 5 hours.

ENJOY !
