Museum of Industry Lobby for departure to Pictou
Welcome to Pictou County! Our tour group will be departing at 10:30
AM from the Museum of Industry Lobby following breakfast and the
welcome greetings.
Our tour will take you to Pictou’s award winning waterfront, where the
first Scots landed in 1773. We then divide into 3 groups. Group AGroup "A" will journey to the nearby Braeside Country Inn to enjoy a
fun and relaxing
"Primp & Play" pampered by staff from Laura’s Day Spa, to include skin
care, make-up tips & nail care just to name a few. Enjoy complimentary
refreshments before lunch.
Group B
Group "B" will visit the Hector Heritage Quay & uncover the lives of
the early immigrants through demonstration & displays, tour the
amazing full-sized replica of the tall Ship Hector and stop by the
Hector Quay Store. Enjoy the nearby Northumberland Fisheries Museum
and Hatchery, where you can see the tiny infant lobsters who are born
and cared for onsite until they are released into the Northumberland
Strait. Stop
by Carver’s Coffee house, Pub & Studio and see local craftsman, Keith
Matheson at work on his latest wood carving.
Pictou offers a great walking & shopping experience. Enjoy an ice
cream on the waterfront or sav our a cup of tea and oat cakes at Mrs.
MacGregor’s tea room. Only a short walk away you will find Grohman
Knives, the home of world renowned handcrafted masterpieces which have
been displayed in New York’s Museum of Modern Art & commissioned by
the Queen. As you stroll up the street stop by Water Street Studio
offering local & imported handmade crafts, Heaven’s Delight Fudge
shop, Whigmalfeeries Scottish tartans & giftware shop and Caspers
gifts & crafts where unique and beautiful gifts are found.
At 12:30 PM Group "B" will join Group "A" at the Braeside Country
Inn for a wonderful lunch. Following lunch it will be Group "B's" turn
to be pampered while Group "A" will enjoy Pictou’s attractions,
waterfront & shopping experience.
Group C
Group "C" will embark on an entirely different course, cruising the Pictou Harbor & East River enjoying local on board entertainment &
storytelling with John "Spyder" Mac Donald and of course with
refreshments available to steady the nerves for such a high seas
adventure. Sorry, but there is a limit of 20 people. The cruise will
include Pictou Harbor, moor alongside a lobster fishing boat to
observe how these delicacies are brought up from the deep ocean, then
up the East River to New Glasgow where lunch will be served at The
Dock “A Little Bit of Ireland” to enjoy fine food, spirits & ales.
After lunch the cruise will travel back to Pictou.
All attendees will then depart Pictou at 2:45 PM arriving back at
the Holiday Inn by 3:15 PM.
Please dress casual with comfortable shoes. Approximate time for
program 5 hours.
